Welcoming & Supportive Environment for Patients and Families
At St. Joseph's Hospital, Visakhapatnam, we value the role of family and friends in the healing process. Our patient and visitor guidelines ensure a safe, peaceful, and compassionate atmosphere that supports recovery, infection control, and respect for all patients, staff, and visitors — nurturing mind, body, and soul during your time with us.
Whether visiting a loved one in inpatient wards, accompanying an outpatient, or supporting during emergencies, these guidelines help maintain comfort, privacy, and quality care. We encourage short, meaningful visits that promote rest and well-being.
Key Patient & Visitor Guidelines
Follow these rules to help create a healing environment. Guidelines may vary by department (e.g., ICU, maternity, pediatrics) or during special circumstances — always check with the nursing staff or front office for the latest updates.
- Visiting Hours: Generally 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM (subject to ward-specific rules; 24/7 for emergencies & critical cases with permission)
- Number of Visitors: Limited to 1-2 at the bedside at a time to ensure patient rest and space
- Visitor Registration: Obtain a visitor pass/ID badge at the front desk/main lobby upon arrival
- Health & Safety: Do not visit if you have fever, cough, cold, or any illness symptoms; hand hygiene and masks may be required
- Children: Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult; not allowed in restricted areas like ICU unless permitted
- Respect & Quiet: Maintain silence, respect patient privacy, avoid using mobile phones in patient areas, and step out during examinations/treatments
- Food & Items: Outside food/gifts — check with nursing staff; no flowers/plants in certain wards due to infection risk
For emergencies, visitors may enter outside regular hours via the emergency entrance. We appreciate your cooperation in following these guidelines to support patient recovery and hospital operations. If you have questions, our front office, patient relations, or nursing team is always available to assist.
